Reflection//Theory of Writing

Each time has its own factors that have a special power of influence. Today, these include media and media technologies, which are being forcibly introduced into all spheres of society’s life and activities, in all cultural and communication practices of a person, in all its spaces, mass, public and private. Modernity is a media project based on converting the technological and content potential of media into a qualitatively new social and linguistic reality of a person. The modern education became inseparable from the technologies and digital media, and during the course of Eng.2150 this Fall, I learned changes in modern media writing.

During the course, our class came across artificial and engaging tasks, such as creating weekly Labor Logs, weekly responses and free writings, reflections on our own work, and revisions of our projects.

Every project that has been done (in a total of three), was different, challenging, and creative.

We had learned about

  • Rhetorical Analysis – Project#1,

Wrote an Argumentative essay

  • Project #2 with prewriting of Annotated Bibliography to it,
  • Designed a media artifact, by restructuring Project#2 aspects, but saving the topic.

Each and every task was adapted to the modern technological process and carried away into the essence of the work done. We had a strong back up by our Instructor’s comments and suggestions and learned new ways to express our writings by adapting digital media to it. The course allowed to use primary skills of student’s writing, and bring into a state of unity all that had been learned before to the different level by consistently producing weekly assignments.

In our groups, we learned how to share the ideas and revise our writings by exchanging the information between each other using Google Docs. Collaboration allowed us to see some arguments from different perspective.

Creating new outlines for the projects, and revising it constantly, even when the work was done, and we have to just make it better, allowed to get sophisticated results and expand personal creative thinking.

By the end of the course, students got more freedom on the Projects, which allowed to stay creative and express personal experience and testimony without afraid to be punished for that. One of the important factors of that became creation of Video Resume, which helped develop media skills and hands on experience on digital project.

Overall, I can tell that my writing style changed through the semester, and I found a new way to express myself in digital media writing.
